The Garter Girl

Julianne Smith who has a stylish wedding garter company is launching a new line of garters.  I am so excited to attend her launch party this evening with some of my favorite DC wedding professionals.  So in the spirit of beautiful garters I thought it was a great idea to do a garter post!

I love the look on a Bride's face when her new husband has his head up her dress.

Makeup and Hair for Headshots: Carla David Design: Meaghan Elliott Photography

These are not your ordinary headshots.
I was so excited when Carla of Carla David Design asked me to do her hair and makeup for a session she was doing with Meaghan Elliott Photography for headshots for her website.  I think it is so important for clients to see a face of who they are going to hire when they go to a website.  It is amazing how I feel so much more comfortable hiring someone when I can see they are a "real" person.  Meaghan Elliott is a phenomenal photographer at capturing someone's personality and not making photos look stuffy(which is what most people think when they think headshots).  And Meaghan worked her magic once again.  Don't these photos make you want to hire Carla David Design?

Another thing I highly recommend for any person considering getting head shots taken, is to get your makeup professionally done.  I think many people are afraid to get their makeup done because they are worried they will not look like themself.  Or worst case scenario, look like a clown (I have heard of that fear on numerous occasions).  But as you can see, Carla looks very natural and very pretty.  All of her features stand out and her makeup is done in a way that you truly see HER and are not distracted by shine, uneven skin tone or dark circles (not that Carla has any of those problems :)

So the day we shot was FREEZING and the girls were major troopers.  I happened to have left just in time because it started hailing when I drove away.  I know, I am a lucky girl.  So after I left they moved inside for a few shots to thaw out.

I love the B&W shots that Meaghan does.
Thank you girls for including me in all the fun.

If anyone is in need of a fabulously talented Graphic designer/ Invitation designer/ Event designer make sure you check out Carla David Design.

And you all know how much I love Meaghan Elliott Photography.  To see Meaghan's blog entry about the shoot click here.

Feature Wedding: Sarah weds in DC

I am so thankful that Kelley and I were able to join Sarah on her wedding day.  Kelley rocked everyone's hair and Sarah was an absolutely stunning bride.  Sarah was married in DC on a gorgeous summer day. She was surrounded by her sweet family members from Ireland and from the looks of the photos, the event was spectacular.  Sara said they even had their very own Kareoke hour.  How fun!  The photos were taken by Rachel Naft of RMN photography.  Don't you just love all the photos by the fountain.

Her dress was vintage inspired and it was a beautiful blush color.  I actually found out about one of my new favortite kids specialty store from Sarah's sister who lives in Ireland.  The flower girls dresses are from Monsoon and I am considering purchasing my daughters flower girl dress for my sister-in-law's wedding from there since their dresses are soooo darn adorable.  Have fun looking at her photos, I sure did!

Who did her Hair?

I adore these photos from Kaja's wedding. I was not able to do the makeup for Kaja's wedding but Kelley was able to do the hair for Kaja and all of her bridal party. Since Kelley will not brag about how fabulous she is, I have taken it upon myself to do the job. Granted, Kaja and the bridal party were out of this world gorgeous, but you have to admit that the hair looks pretty darn fantastic. Stephen from Love Life Images (one of my favorite photo journalism groups) photographed the wedding and he did such a fabulous job that I could just look at these pictures all day.

The wedding took place at The Swedish Embassy in Washington DC and all of the details were very special and unique. Kaja even wore a surprise blue dress that was a stunning work of art.
Kaja, you are a beautiful bride and I wish for you a beautiful life with Dan!

I want one of these bridesmaid dresses!
What a gorgeous shot!

This picture cracks me up. She is so adorable.
