I have been a bit MIA recently due to vacation and some fabulous things going on here at "Amie Decker Beauty" that have been keeping me busy. You may have noticed our new logo at the top of the blog, which I am sooooo excited to finally reveal today. I have been working on it with Carla David from Carla David Design and I am inlove with the final product. We are now Amie Decker Beauty (instead of Amie Decker Makeup & Hair Artistry) and our new blogsite will be launched very soon, so stay tuned for more eye candy. I have tons of gorgeous weddings to post and more news to reveal! So in the meantime, let me know what you think of our new look!

My Makeover

I frequently am the one to give women a makeover but rarely do I get to receive one so the last few weeks have been very fun. I have not posted about an update on my weight loss because I have been waiting for pictures to share, but I decided it has been long enough and I don't want any of you to be nervous for me. So here are the stats (best to my recollection). I have lost 25 pounds!!!! and SEVEN inches in my waist. That is not a typo, I said seven. I am hoping to have a few photos soon, and I am still going strong so stay tuned for more updates.

Now the second part of my makeover involve the amazing NOVA lashes that we are now offering. I am obsessed with these "eyelash extensions". I have not worn mascara in a month (am trust me, I am addicted to mascara). I will be coming out with more info on the Nova lashes soon but in the meantime feel free to drool over my before and after photos!

Feature Wedding: Lisa and Mike: Columbia MD

Lisa and Mike were married last month and had a beautiful reception at the Columbia Sheraton. They happened to get married on June 12th which was our busiest wedding day of the year, so I spent the morning with Lisa and her bridal party while the rest of the team were at other weddings. Lisa was such a joy to work with and she even got a makeup lesson before the wedding so she "could finally learn how to do her makeup." Stephen Bobb from Love Life Images was their amazing photographer (worth every penny) so the photos are fabulous to say the least.

For those of you who follow this here blog you have seen Kelley's growing belly over the last eight months in our photos. I am sure everyone would like to know that Kelley's little baby boy was born on Friday July 2nd. Both mom and baby are doing very well and they are both just about as cute as can be. I do not have any photos of the little one but since every post is better with photos I thought I would share some from our maternity marathon (in the spirit of pregnancy).

I teamed up with Mary from Love Life Images to do a fabulous Maternity Marathon Makeover and photo shoot at their beautiful studio. I will let you all know when the next marathon will take place. The photos are so precious.

So we are in the midst of full blown Wedding season and I have some wonderful weddings to blog to show you what we have been up to the last couple of months. The feature wedding today is a fabulous Baltimore wedding shot by Shelby Leigh Photography. Kelley did all of the hair for the wedding and JoAnna did all of the makeup. I love my team, they are fabulous!

Feature Wedding: The Wedding Bee: Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

Megan was such a delightful bride and Kelley and I really loved working with her. Megan is one of the bloggers on The Wedding Bee and from reading her blog you can see how much thought and creativity she put into this wedding. If you want to check it out, her name on the blog is Mrs. Guinea Pig (because she is a scientist, cute huh). The ceremony and reception took place at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and they had a beautiful WINDY day. Amy Deputy was the photographer and it was such an honor to work with her. Here are some of my favorite photos but it was so difficult to just pick a few. Enjoy!

Feature Wedding: Darcy and Nat: Chesapeake Bay Foundation

This was one of our favorite weddings ever. Darcy and Nat are just head over heals in love and it was so special to witness their event. Nat is in the Navy so they were actually married a few months ago right before he was deployed and they waited until now to have their vow renewal and reception in Annapolis with their family and friends. The fabulous David Hartcorn was their photographer and the whole event took place at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Darcy is the quintessential beauty. Doesn't she make you want to do a vow renewal?

I think the flowers in the hair has become one of Kelley's signature looks. She added lilac to Darcy's hair and the lilac looked and smelled beautiful all day!

The ceremony was right on the bay and just looked so romantic.

And David Hartcorn made sure they had plenty of time for all of the special photos of the bride and groom.

Thanks Darcy and Nat for letting us be a part of such a meaningful day. Congratulations!

The Biggest Loser gets to Trash the Dress!

I have mention on this blog before that I am dying to do a "Trash the Dress" session once I can fit in my dress again. I was married almost 7 years ago and there has been multiple pregnancies since so let's just say I am a far cry from fitting in my wedding gown. The more I talk to other wives, the more I realize that this is a very common problem. (It was pretty tricky trying to find models whose dresses still fit for a trash the dress session we did earlier this year). And since I came to the realization that my baby is not a baby any more (she is 2) I have accepted the fact that this "baby weight" is not going to just fall off. I have always been a very determined person who could do whatever I put my mind to but I have accepted the fact that in this area I need some major help. So desperate times call for desperate measures. I have signed up with an amazing program called A Better Weigh and the owner Kate Corzine has been nothing short of perfection. It is a medical weight loss program and it is amazing. I am in my third week and when I went in on Friday for my two week weigh in I have already lost 10 pounds and 4 inches in my waste. So wedding gown hear we come!!!

I will be having a fabulous photo shoot once I am in my wedding gown again and I am excited to show the slim down photos over the next couple of months as I appear in all of my beautiful bride's "getting ready" photos. So here is a photo of me where I am starting from.......

And here is a photo of me in my wedding gown. (I know it is a bad picture but you get the point. Now you know why I want to do a photo shoot in my dress)

Feature Wedding: Alyson and Matthew: Naval Academy Wedding Encore

So as promised here are some more beautiful photos from Alyson and Matthews wedding. The girls got ready at Alyson's home which is right next to the Naval Academy so they had a short walk over to the ceremony. I love these shots of Alyson and her sister walking to the Academy.

The ceremonies at the Naval Academy are just so beautiful. Alyson and Matthew were married the day after graduation and I think she said their were 7 weddings that weekend at the Academy. Oh my:)

Katie and Matt's wedding was a dream come true on a gorgeous day in May. It was a bit of a family tradition to get married on the same day as Preakness and Katie followed in the tradition. The ceremony was at the chapel at Goucher College and the reception was at a beautiful farm in Baltimore county where Katie grew up. This group of women were such a delight and Kelley and I enjoyed every minute of this special "getting ready" time. Music Inspiration: First Dance

I was just inspired by the blog post I read from Evan Reitmeyer from My Deejay (best DJ ever) to update my blog playlist. I have heard from so many brides that they love my playlist on this here blog and that they listen to it all the time. I kept my favorites and then added a few of Evan's first dance recommendations. I also added the song my husband and I danced to for our first dance at our wedding ("Heaven" by DJ Sammy). Carrie's Getting Married!!!!

So many exciting things are going on with the glam squad these days. Melanie is moving to Baltimore and joining the squad, Kelley is having a baby, JoAnna is graduating aesthetician school and Carrie is getting married! I know, exhausting. Carrie and her fiance Josh just recently had their engagement photos taken by Golden Stephenson at our favorite local photo local (Sykesville train tracks). Isn't she beautiful?

Feature Wedding: Amie and Nathan: Vintage Love Bird Theme

I LOVED everything about this wedding. Not only do the bride and I share the same name but we have also been friends since we were kids and it was such an honor to be her makeup artist on her wedding day. Amie and Nathan were married at the Baltimore Zoo and I have to say, I was a huge fan of the venue. The ceremony was outside in front of a lily pond and the reception took place in the mansion house near by. The detail shots are at the bottom of the post in a collage put together by Meaghan Elliott. The paper products were designed by Paper Possibilities and all of the details for the wedding were so creative and thoughtful (right down to the makeup and hair). Kelley created an amazing 1940's inspired style for Amie, complete with the birdcage veil. We went for a vintage feel with Amie's makeup also but modernized it with the hot pink lips which are very big this season. LOVE it!

When Amie told me she got engaged she asked what photographer she should hire. I was so happy when she decided to go with Meaghan Elliott Photography who captured the day so beautifully.

RusticTrash the Dress Session: Makeup and Hair

What a fabulous team I have! I have one last trash the dress session to show you from the all day photo shoot we did with Meaghan Elliott Photography "down on the farm." I love Meaghan's photos! I wish that I could just carry her around with me all the time so she could always take pictures of my life. Our beautiful model is Tina and she actually just had a baby 10 weeks ago. I know, I wouldn't have believed it either if I wasn't holding the baby.

JoAnna did another brilliant job with Tina's makeup, and Kelley was able to style Tina's extremely long hair in a beautiful updo. Kelley is a hair genius.

Feature Wedding: Aimee and Michael's Wedding at NAVY

Over here at Amie Decker Makeup and Hair Artistry, we had a lot of Amie's going on this weekend. We worked with Amie and Nathan on Friday (photos coming soon) and Aimee and Michael on Saturday. Saturday morning JoAnna and Kelley headed off to Annapolis to get Aimee and her Bridal party ready for a beautiful Naval Academy wedding. The rains held off long enough for the photographer, Liz Hough Photogrpahy, to capture some beautiful outdoor photos of of the couple.

We have a lot of Navel Academy weddings this season, which is very excited because it is such a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony.

Aimee and all of her girls got ready at the Lowes hotel in Annapolis. It makes the wedding day so much easier to have a hairstylist and makeup artist come to your suite so you can relax with friends and family.

You know I love pretty pictures so I have to say that I am extra in love with these pictures. Grace was one of our models for the photo shoot we did with Meaghan Elliott Photography this month and she was so excited to wear her gown again. Could you blame her, it is stunning. JoAnna did an extraordinary job on the makeup and Kelley worked her magic on Grace's hair. I really do not have much to say about these photos because the beauty speaks for itself. Enjoy!

Engagement Photos: Monica and Josh

I have another cute couple for you today! Monica and Josh were the other engaged couple we glammed up and photographed at the farm the other week. Meaghan Elliott photography did an amazing job and she only had 30 minutes with each couple. She does such great things with light. JoAnna and Kelley styled Monica so beautifully. I think she looks classic and modern at the same time.

I love how Kelley did Monica's hair. It looks so whimsical but still casual enough for an engagement session.

I feel like they are the fun version of Ken and Barbie.

Engagement Photos: Lisa and Greg

I have been wanting to do a beautiful photo shoot for some more portfolio work for my team for a while now and when the amazing Meaghan Elliott agreed to help me out I knew it would be perfect. The first couple I have to show you is Lisa and Greg and they are getting married in June. June 12th to be exact (the busiest wedding day of the year). After I decided to do the shoot, Lisa was my first call. We have been friends since we were in utero (no joke, our moms took Lamaze together) and her and Greg are such a fun and gorgeous couple (perfect model material). JoAnna did Lisa's makeup and Kelley did Lisa's hair and she looks like a total knockout.

We did the photo shoot at my parents farm and my prayers for good weather were answered. The farm was the perfect setting for a romantic outdoor shoot.

Aren't they adorable? I can't wait for the wedding. Here is my favorite shot of the day. Go Meaghan Elliott!

Wendy and Mark were married on April 3rd and had a beautiful wedding at The Peabody in Baltimore. JoAnna did Wendy's makeup along with many members of the bridal party. JoAnna went for a fresh and natural look for Wendy's makeup. I don't have many close-up shots of the makeup (yet) but from the pics I do have, she looks flawless. I was able to get some of these beautiful photos of the wedding from the fantastic team over at Hamilton Photography. Doesn't the event look magical?

It was a gorgeous day which was perfect for a spring wedding. When planning a wedding in April, one never knows if they are going to get cold weather or if they might get a sunny "cherry blossom filled" day. I am so glad that Wendy had the perfect day.

I have a special treat for everyone today! I have some super cute engagement photos of an adorable couple Amie and Nathan. The photos were taken in Ellicott City (great location) by the extraordinary Meaghan Elliott. Amie and Nathan are not only an adorable couple but they have great style too. They put together great looks for the shoot and I think it brought the shoot to another level. I was able to do Amie's makeup for the session and it was very fun to modernize a beautiful vintage look for her makeup.

Amie and Nathan are getting married in two weeks and Meaghan Elliott is photographing the wedding. Kelley and I will be doing the hair and makeup and I will actually be attending the wedding for a change since Amie is one of my good friends from High school!

Gorgeous Bridal Portraits: Annapolis Hair and Makeup

I know I have already posted some beautiful images of Lauren from the Annapolis photographer workshop we styled a couple of weeks ago, but I just received these images from Leo Dj and I have to share them. If this first photo does not make you want to do a trash the dress session I do not know what will. This is a photo that most brides would not attempt on their wedding day but when you have a whole session just to experiment and take cool photos, look at what you can end up with. GORGEOUS!

Bridal Portrait Session: Amie Decker Makeup and Hair Artistry

At the Photographer workshop last week, we also did a Bridal shoot that Kelley and I were asked to style. The beautiful bride, Lauren, had her wedding this past summer and I was so excited to do her makeup again for this shoot. It is so fun to come up with a completely different makeup and hair look for a trash the dress or bridal portrait session. For the shoot, we used different colors for her makeup than on her wedding day and on her wedding day she wore her hair half up. She also accessorized with different jewelry and we added a hot pink flower to her hair. This way she got the chance to have some photos in her gown but also had a totally different look and feel to it.

Engagement Photos at the Bay

As promised here are a few of the amazing images taken at the Susan Stripling Photographer workshop on Friday. These photos were taken by the wonderful Annapolis based photographer Stacy Richardson. Kelley took care of the hair and I had the pleasure of doing the makeup. The engagement couple, Jen and Brent, were actually married a couple of years ago but they agreed to "pretend" they were engaged :)

I think it makes such a difference to have your makeup done for your engagement photos. Since most couples choose to get their E-Pics taken outside, most people do not know how to do their makeup for natural lighting. By getting your makeup professionally done, you can still look like your natural beautiful self but your features do not get washed in the natural light. Doesn't Jen look stunning? Anthropologie add right here folks!

So I recently googled myself to see what came up (don't pretend like you have never done it) and I realized that there is another Amie Decker who is a model. So I decided just in case there is any confusion out there I would clear things up...... This picture below is NOT ME.

Although I am sure my husband would not mind it if I posed on his motorcycle in a tube top, I have never attempted it. Thank you for letting me clear this up :) I hope you all enjoy this beautiful day!

Hair & Makeup for Annapolis Photographer Workshop

Our team had the most amazing time on Friday when we took on the task of styling the shoot for the Susan Stripling Workshop in Annapolis MD. Susan Stripling is an Award Winning photographer who travels all over the country to train photographers through her workshops. Part of the workshop included a shoot in downtown Annapolis with an engaged couple and a bride, and I was overjoyed when we were called to do the styling. We were given complete creative freedom (which is an artist's dream) and I loved how everything turned out. JoAnna and Melanie worked on the Bride (who is my friend Stephanie) and Kelley and I worked on the engaged couple Sara and Jonathan. Yes, Jonathan was also styled (hair cut and beard trim). These pictures are from Jamie Roberts of Roberts Photographers. Jamie was one of the photographers who attended on Friday and he took some beautiful images. It was so fun to meet so many talented photographers and hang out with some I already know and adore. Sara and John were the cutest couple and madly in-love. They are getting married in October and all of the photographers warned them that they will be crashing the wedding.

Stephanie's styling was so fun! Melanie did her hair and JoAnna did her makeup and we went for an "Alice in Wonderland" Black and White Whimsical inspiration. She looks so hot!

And I even jumped in for a little modeling. Oh my.

I am still working on my serious face.

Susan Stripling is coming back next Friday (March 26th) for another workshop and we may still need an engagement couple to model. So if you are interested or know someone who is then shoot me an email.

These are not your ordinary headshots.

I was so excited when Carla of Carla David Design asked me to do her hair and makeup for a session she was doing with Meaghan Elliott Photography for headshots for her website. I think it is so important for clients to see a face of who they are going to hire when they go to a website. It is amazing how I feel so much more comfortable hiring someone when I can see they are a "real" person. Meaghan Elliott is a phenomenal photographer at capturing someone's personality and not making photos look stuffy(which is what most people think when they think headshots). And Meaghan worked her magic once again. Don't these photos make you want to hire Carla David Design?

Another thing I highly recommend for any person considering getting head shots taken, is to get your makeup professionally done. I think many people are afraid to get their makeup done because they are worried they will not look like themself. Or worst case scenario, look like a clown (I have heard of that fear on numerous occasions). But as you can see, Carla looks very natural and very pretty. All of her features stand out and her makeup is done in a way that you truly see HER and are not distracted by shine, uneven skin tone or dark circles (not that Carla has any of those problems :)

So the day we shot was FREEZING and the girls were major troopers. I happened to have left just in time because it started hailing when I drove away. I know, I am a lucky girl. So after I left they moved inside for a few shots to thaw out.

I love the B&W shots that Meaghan does.

I have been receiving some great questions from brides recently regarding trials and I thought it would make an informative blog post. This is my response to an email I received recently and I wanted to share it with the rest of you. If you think this information is helpful then leave a comment and let me know and I will think of some way to incorporate it into the website.

Let me explain a little about our set up. We are a team of freelance makeup artists and hairstylists who all specialize in weddings. Weddings are a special niche because it really takes a certain amount of knowledge and talent to give the bride and her family exactly what she needs and deserves. Plenty of hair stylists can give a great cut but cannot do an updo if their life depended on it. And as for makeup, the balance between looking natural in person and still photographing beautifully can be a challenge.

Our team is comprised of women that I have had the privilege of knowing who are impeccable at what they do. They have all been personally trained by me and are artists that I would trust to do my hair and makeup on my own wedding day. When I got married over 6 years ago, I was surprised by the great need for professional makeup and hair artists that would travel to a bride’s location. I decided that it is a luxury that every bride should have, so that is when I started my company.

Since all of us come to your location our company does not have a salon. Some of us do the trials in our home and others travel to the client for the trial. So the trial location may change based on which artist you are working with. I do my trials at my home in Sykesville (I know, quite a hike) and Kelley, who is a hair stylist, does trials at her salon in Annapolis or her home in Crofton. The factor of a travel fee comes in when the artist you are working with has to travel more than 40 miles round trip for the wedding. We try and pair brides with a stylist and makeup artist that are close to them so they do not have to pay a travel fee but sometimes based on availability or request, the travel fee cannot be avoided.

We require a signed contract to reserve the date. A deposit is due at the time of the trial and it is up to you when you decide to have your trials. Some brides want to do a trial before booking and others do the trial closer to the wedding. I recommend doing the trial about 4 weeks before the wedding. When the trial is done close to the wedding, the bride looks most like she will on her wedding day. Her hair length and color are not going to change drastically, along with her skin type and tan and weight (all which effect the makeup application). Also most brides have not put much thought into their hair or makeup and what style/mood they are going for until closer to the wedding date. So what is meant to be a trial run through of the wedding hair and makeup ends up being just a “tryout” for the hair stylist and makeup artist, when it would be more useful closer to the wedding. This being said, I completely understand why some brides want to do a trial before signing a contract so they feel more confident in their decision. If a Bride is interested we always offer an additional trial, that she can pay for, so she can have a trial before booking and another closer to the wedding.

My First Wedding

I owe it all to Steph. Steph has been one of my dear friends since we were in 6th grade and I suppose I can say that she started my career. Steph had asked me to do her makeup for her on her wedding day which was a pretty daunting task for someone who was not a professional makeup artist. Between the two of us, we compiled all of the makeup we had and I went to work on my friend and the rest of her family. Needless to say, I developed a new love that day and I have never looked back. Since that time, I have been to school for makeup artistry, been licensed and worked with hundreds of brides on their most special day. But Steph will always be able to say she was my first.

Melanie and Darren were married in October of 2008 at the Sheraton in Columbia. Melanie is just so bubbly and full of life and enjoyed every moment of her wedding day. I really love these images from Carol Masica Photography. It was the perfect fall day and there were so many ideal woodsie photo ops. Posting these old weddings brings back such fond memories. I can't help but smile whenever I look at the wedding pictures of the brides that I had the pleasure of working with on their wedding day.

I have decided to deem this week old wedding week.I was inspired by everyone putting their wedding photos on facebook for Valentine's day and I figured this would be a great week to show some of the older weddings that never made it to the blog (mostly because I was never given the photos). So everyone, here is your chance, If you have been an Amie Decker Client and never gave me some of your photos, it's NOT too late. All week I will be showcasing weddings that have happened over a year ago. Starting with Kira and Jesus.

Now Kira's wedding was not technically over a year ago because she will be celebrating her first anniversary in March but I decided that she qualifies. Kira was a stunning bride who kept very true to her own style on the wedding day. She did not get crazy tan or change her hair color or wear tons of Jewels. She was elegant and soft and feminine. I loved her look!

Classic Bride: Wedding makeup

Considering I am house bound with over 20 inches of snow outside my door and the anniversary of this special wedding is approaching next week, I though it was the perfect time for my best friend Katie's Winter wedding to make it's debut! Katie and Jared were married in Memphis Tennessee where they live, so February was actually not a risky month for a wedding. (sidenote: my prayers are going out to all of the brides who have planned their wedding for today in MD). However, it just so happened that the weekend of Katie and Jared's wedding, Memphis got the worst ice storm it had seen in decades. Katie, being the wonderful woman that she is, was still all smiles. About a third of the guest list was not able to attend because of the roads and closed airports but those of us who were already in town for the shindig got our party on!

Katie was a classic beauty in her sweetheart neck satin dress. For her hair she chose looses curls in an updo and for the makeup we went very classic and timeless. She loves black and white photos so I made sure to choose a berry lip color so her lips and beautiful smile showed up beautifully in the black and white photos.
Her whole ensemble was absolutely breathtaking. I flew in to Tennessee to go dress shopping with her when she got engaged and what they say about the moment being magic when the "perfect" dress is tried on is so true. I love how she paired her gown with the gloves and the bear neck was definitely a great choice. Enjoy all of the photos and feel free to leave a comment (I love reading them).

I had the wonderful privilege of doing makeup for Allison of Allison Barnhill Designs for her interview on Fox 45 this week. Allison creates beautiful custom invitations and accessories and her work has been featured well.......just about everywhere. We met at her studio in Annapolis VERY early on Monday morning and after I finished her makeup she rushed off to the Studio in Baltimore. I did Allison's makeup and hair back in August when she was interviewed on Fox 45 and I was so honored that she called me again this time.

Indie Chic Bride

Working with Bia was an absolute dream. She is perhaps one of the sweetest people I have ever met and what makes her even better is that she gave Kelley and I complete creative liberty with her Wedding day hair and makeup. She gave us some direction by telling us about her and her wedding but she said she didn't want to stifle out creativity. Amazing! So what do you get? An absolutely gorgeous and unique bride who embodies her sense of style, beauty and individuality.

Bia and Steve were married at the Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore and the whole affair was filled with unique Artistic details. Bia wore a beautiful purple flower hair piece from Etsy and the groomsmen wore tidied ties. They even enlisted the fantastic planner Cate Bucsher from Plan it Perfect Events to ensure the whole event was Eco-Friendly.

Maria Vicencio Photography was there the whole day to document the wedding and boy did they do a wonderful job. They really captured the indie spirit and creativity of the wedding. Feature Wedding: Lonni & Chris

I have another gorgeous wedding for all of you blog followers. Lonni and Chris were married in October and I am warning you, these photos will make every bride want to get married in October. The leaves were so vibrant, and even though it was a rainy day the outdoor photos are just magical. Lonni chose Mandi White from Photos by Mandi to document her day and she did a fantastic job.

For Lonni's makeup look we went for a bronze sun-kissed look which really brought out her blue eyes. I made sure her skin was matte and flawless and her lips were shiny but not too light that they disappeared. Lonni's sister is a wonderful Stylist in Pennsylvania and she took care of all of the hair (she did an amazing job). The bride and her family were able to get ready in the comfort of her family home while looking through fashion magazines and sipping champagne. Now ladies, that's the way to do it! Everyone was able to laugh and relax and spend time together instead of running around town (in the rain) making all sorts of appointments. Such a smart girl!

Feature Wedding: Joy and Mark Vintage Glamor

This Wedding is especially near and dear to my heart because the Bride, Joy, is my sister-in-law and the groom, Mark, is my NEW brother-in-law. Joy and Mark were married on December 27th at The Belvedere in Baltimore. The Amie Decker Makeup and Hair team took care of the 11 member bridal party. Kelley beautifully styled the hair and JoAnna and I took care of the makeup. The theme of the wedding was vintage (feathers, lace and pearls). All of the bridesmaids wore their own black dress and black pumps with pearl stud earrings. Since all the bridesmaids had different dresses, Joy tied everything together with long black gloves for all the girls. It was especially important for all of the hair and makeup to unify the large bridal party also. For makeup we went with a modern twist on 1930's glamor. We all had dark lips black liner and lashes. Kelley worked her magic and crafted some of the most beautiful updos that blended in perfectly with the romance of the evening.
A huge thank you goes out to the extraordinarily talented Mary Gardella of Love Life Images who documented the wedding. She was so pleasant to have with us during all of the hustle and bustle and well.......the photos speak for themselves. Each photo is a work of art.

Feature Wedding: Megan and Kevin at the Cloisters

Megan's wedding was captured by the fabulous Meaghan Elliott. Megan was married on a stormy day right before Halloween and the reception took place in a castle. It was quite memorable. All of the ladies got ready at the cloisters and then were off to the church for the ceremony. I was so glad that Megan had planned everything indoors since she ended up with a "Good Luck" rainy day. I do however LOVE the umbrella shots. All of the details Megan chose were gorgeous. The flowers were by Crimson and Clover and her Bridal look was very renaissance which fit in perfectly with the Cloisters castle. I am proud to announce our newest member to the Amie Decker Makeup family.....JoAnna Popp! Can I just say that we are sooooo lucky to have JoAnna on the team. JoAnna has been in the industry for over 5 years and is not only a licensed makeup artist but she is finishing up with her aesthetician program in June of 2010 so we will finally have someone for waxing!!!!!! Hallelujah! She has worked with many different cosmetic lines which has allowed her to gain valuable experience and develop a rather fun and extensive makeup kit. Fall Wedding Trends

Shannon was such a beautiful Bride and in her pictures I have two big Fall Wedding trends to share with you........ Red and Rain. I have seen tons and tons of Red this season, in the form of bridesmaid dresses and accent colors. And unfortunately I have seen a lot of rain too. Since I have been in the wedding industry, every weekend we have a rainy day, my mind automatically goes to thinking about all of the poor brides whose wedding was affected by the weather. So, yes it rained on Shannon's wedding day but she did not let it get her down one bit. She had fortunately planned a church wedding and an indoor reception so nothing had to be changed. She actually got dressed in her gown and had pictures taken at her house, then got into her sweats, rode to the church and got redressed in her gown for the ceremony (It was raining A LOT).

JoAnna and I arrived after the girls finished at the hair salon and got right to work. For the brides who have a limited time frame on the wedding day it works out great to have two artists doing hair and makeup. I love working with JoAnna. It was our first wedding together since she started working with me and she did a wonderful job. She is so talented and so much fun to have around. I am so lucky to be working with such fantastic ladies. I already had two weddings booked when Meredeth contacted me for her wedding day makeup and hair, which I was very bummed about. However, she made the wonderful decision to go with Carrie and Kelley even though I was unavailable. Carrie (makeup) and Kelley (hair) did a Fabulous job and Meredith was such a radiant bride. One of my favorite companies,Love Life Images , took care of the photography for the day. Jennifer from Love Life always gets the best moments. These photos make me smile. Congratulations Meredith!

Feature Wedding: Attia and Philip

Attia has to be one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met which only adds to her beauty. Attia was the first bride I have know to do a bakery crawl for a bachelorette party. All of the women had a fun evening in Baltimore going from spot to spot to experience all of the best local bakeries. Sounds yummy to me!

Kelley and I had such a pleasure working with Attia and her family on her very special wedding day. They had a beautiful traditional Pakistani wedding in Baltimore at the Walters Art Museum. I wanted to share a few photos from the special day that were taken by Roman Grinev Photography. Congratulations you two!

The night before the wedding, Attia had a Henna artist come to the house so that all of the ladies in the bridal party and family could have the beautiful designs.

I had to share this picture of my daughter Tavi from Halloween. If you haven't noticed her trick or treat bag is a Sephora bag which made her outfit even more adorable in my opinion. All of the time I hear that my daughters are so lucky to have a mom who is a makeup artist. Is it wrong that my one year old knows what Sephora is?

Feature Wedding: Nicole's Wedding Look

I know, I know, I work with the most gorgeous brides. I will be doing a few posts about Nicole's wedding because I really just can't narrow down all of the wonderful pictures. As you can see, Nicole was absolutely stunning on her wedding day. She was surrounded by all of her best girlfriends from high school and college and let me tell you, they are one group of gorgeous girls (bridesmaid pics will be another post).

The Look....Nicole really wanted dramatic eyes, soft lips and flawless skin. This is a great bridal look. The key is to play up the eyes without overdoing it (lashes really help). I also think it is important to to choose a lip color that is light but dark enough for the lips to show up in photos. I love how Nicole's look turned out and so did she.

The wonderful photographer who sent me all of the pictures is Eric Wuechner from David Eric Photography. I owe him a huge thank you because he got so many closeups of Nicole (which is a makeup artists dream).

Kelly and Tommy are the most adorable couple and everyone in there wedding was so stinkin cute. Kelly is so upbeat and full of life, she put tons of time and energy into this wedding and it really paid off. As you can see she looked like a perfect Barbie Doll Bride who could not stop smiling all day.

Jamie from Baltimore Bridal Hair (love her) showed up at the crack of dawn to start hair for all the girls and I joined shortly after to tackle makeup. We were joined by Matt Fuller from Tender Images who documented the whole day. He also sent me a CD of all the picture so THANK YOU Matt! Kelly, you were such a pleasure to work with and I wish you a Tommy a lifetime of happiness. As for the rest of you, enjoy all the gorgeous photos!

Go Ravens Go COVERGIRL

Monday evening I was busy doing mini makeovers for COVERGIRL at the Ravens stadium for a Ravens VIP event. You may wonder how many ladies would even be present at a Baltimore Ravens VIP event, well the answer is 3000. YES, it was a women only party for Ravens fans and I was there with COVERGIRL giving out free makeovers and free makeup. It was a lot of fun hanging out with my fellow Ravens fans and treating so many women with special COVERGIRL makeovers. We were even giving out my favorite mascara "COVERGIRL Exact Eyelights." I hope to see you there next year!

Gorgeous Bride Lauren

Lauren was a blast to work with. She had a whole room full of friends and family on her wedding day and they all made me feel like one of the crowd. I must have done 12 woman's makeup that day but I honestly just lost track. What I do know is that it is any makeup artists dream to work with a bride a beautiful (inside and out) as Lauren. I have a special fondness for birdcage veils and I have been waiting for a bride to finally use one, so I am sending huge thank yous to Amanda!!!!! Amanda was married at Turf Valley Country Club on a beautiful September day. I just loved her look. She wore a very special and unique lace vintage inspired gown and her hair and makeup went right along with her look. Amanda's sister-in-law, Melanie, is a fabulous hair stylist based in Chicago and she created a beautiful vintage look. Amanda decided to keep her signature short hairstyle instead of growing out her hair for the wedding and Melanie was able to do a soft finger wave style that was perfection. Thank you Amanda for sharing your special day and your photos with me. You are beautiful!
